Description: Interns assist with staffing the MAP AIDSLine and would receive full training to be able to answer phones as staff educators. A primary responsibility would be to learn the HIV service system and make appropriate referrals. Additionally, interns will be given comprehensive HIV education to fully understand HIV transmission and do accurate, nonjudgmental HIV risk assessments. Interns would be given opportunities to shadow face-to-face appointments with staff and based on skill level deliver these appointments later in the placement. Interns will be expected to assist with tabling and HIV 101 presentations as requested and appropriate in various settings. Other responsibilities include helping to oversee the MAP Web site's education and referral services. Preferred candidates should be in the junior or senior year of a social work or human services degree program. The internship requires a minimum 4 month commitment. Scheduling requires a minimum of 8 hours per week.
